How does FamilyHelpandCare.com work?
FamilyHelpandCare.com is an online database service for families to find the type of help and care they are looking for. FamilyHelpandCare.com is today’s sensible alternative to expensive placement agencies. You may sign up for a free trial guest membership to explore the site. Families with paid memberships are given access to care provider contact information so they may contact candidates of interest directly.

How much does it cost?
Family memberships start at just $29.95 for a 30 day Silver Membership, saving hundreds of dollars over a placement agency. Gold and Platinum Memberships include our exclusive Childcare or Care Provider Manual. Once registered, you have access to candidate contact information and may contact candidates directly. You also have the option of allowing candidates to view your complete profile and contact you.

How do I cancel my paid membership?
Easy, simply send an email to [email protected]. Your membership will be canceled per your direction and you will be notified.

What is My Account and how does it work?
The FamilyHelpandCare.com My Account is your management dashboard for your account information and care provider search process. You can log into your My Account to edit your profile, upload a photo, order a background check, send and receive messages and more.

What are Daily Matches?
Daily Matches are daily email alerts that are sent to you when a new care provider registers that meet your search criteria. Daily Matches are intended to complement your search effort and are an approximation based on your preferences.

You can change the type of alerts you want to receive by going to Edit Profile in your My Account and update your information.

How can I stop receiving Daily Matches?
Go to your My Messages in your My Account and “Click here” to stop Daily Matches. By clicking on the button, you will stop receiving Daily Matches.

Is my information ever shared with any 3rd parties?
FamilyHelpandCare.com does not and will not share any care seekers or care providers’ information with any 3rd parties other than those intended care seekers and care providers as outlined in our Privacy Policy.

Are FamilyHelpandCare.com care providers certified?
Generally, if a care provider is certified in anything or holds any active licenses, they will include that information in their profile. To confirm, you may ask the candidates directly if they have any type of certification, training or license.

Are the care providers CPR and First Aid certified?
This will vary with each candidate. If the care provider is not certified, many families will have them get certified before or after they start in their new position.

Are FamilyHelpandCare.com care providers screened?
FamilyHelpandCare.com is an online database service, therefore, it does not screen any of the care providers registered on the site. Once you find a care provider of interest, there are several tools available to assist you with checking their information, including running a background check, which may be purchased through FamilyHelpandCare.com

I have never hired anyone on my own. Does FamilyHelpandCare.com offer any advice or guidelines to help with the hiring process?
Yes, we do. We offer families guidance and information to aid in the process of hiring an in-home care provider. Visit our Resource Center for these valuable and freely available tips and tools. Take a look at our exclusive Family Manuals for purchase which take the guesswork out of the hiring process. Our Family Manuals provide you with everything you need to know, and the forms you will need, during and after, your search for that special care provider.

How much time should I allow to find my care provider?
This varies for each individual family and depends on the type of care you are looking for, hours, location, etc.. You may want to start your search at least 2 months before you need someone. This allows you to begin the interview process and continue your search as new care providers become available. Some families will hire the first candidate they contact while others will contact several before making a decision. We suggest you continue your search until you feel have found an appropriate match and are comfortable with your choice.

How do I edit my profile?
Log in to your My Account. Select Edit Profile and make your changes. Click on the Update button at the bottom.

How do I deactivate or reactivate my account?
Log in to your My Account. Select Deactivate My Account. Your account will be deactivated and unavailable for viewing. To reactivate, simply log in and click on Reactivate My Account. Please note: Deactivating your account does not cancel your paid membership.

How do I upload a photo?
Log in to your My Account page. Click on the link Upload Photo. Follow the instructions.

You can change or delete your photo here as well.

How do I know if a care provider is still available?
Care provider profiles remain active for 35 days unless renewed. We encourage care providers to de-activate their profiles once they have found a job or are no longer looking. They can also contact us and we will delete it for them. If they forget to delete their profile, it will automatically be de-activated after 35 days. This policy helps assure that the care providers listed have updated and available profiles.

What if I don’t find a care provider within my membership period?
Families and care providers are signing up and finding each other every day on our site so the information is constantly changing. Because of that, you may not find a care provider right away. Reasonable enrollment rates are offered so that anyone can join. Our 90 day Platinum Membership offers the best deal and highest success rate since the 90 day membership period is twice as long as the Gold Membership and three times longer than the Silver Membership.

Please note that membership fees are non-refundable. If you find a care provider right away, deactivate your account and cancel your membership. We do not offer any refund or a proportional refund.

How do I order a background check?
Log in to your My Account. Click on Background Checks and follow the instructions on the page for requesting a background check. Enter Code AFN2012 to receive a 10% discount.

How do I find out about payroll taxes?
On your My Account page you will find a link for information on taxes and payroll.

A possible candidate sent me an email; how do I look this person up?
The candidate’s Care Provider ID number is included in the email within the Message Area. You can look them up by clicking on their ID number which will take you to their profile. You may also send them an email from within the Message Area in your My Account.

I have found the help I was looking for, what do I do now?
You can deactivate your account so your profile will not be seen or cancel your paid membership subscription. You will still be able to reactivate and use your account until the end of your then-current subscription. This is good to know and allows you the time to make sure you have a good fit with the care provider you have hired.
